2 New Blue Butterlies

What's wrong with this picture?

The butterfly on the left is missing 2 #5s and a #4. It happens in paper piecing when you forget how to count. I kind of like the lop sided thing. I might just do without the 4s and 5s altogether. Just for a different look here and there. Individuals may vary.
So tomorrow is Rainbow Scrap Challenge link up day, so I will link these, and maybe the blue bow ties I showed yesterday. These were made from a strip of the new fabric I bought yesterday. It was a scrap - cause I used some for the Sweet Sixteen I'm working on. I've cut a bunch of strips and have some sewed together, but I don't like the look. I think I just need to keep going and they'll look better once I cross cut them. I'm not showing them cause I don't like them.
That is all - for now.
Hugs,
Terri

  2. What pattern are you using for the butterflies? It looks great with that fabric.

    1. The pattern says MH Designs. I guess I got it at a quilt store years ago. It might have been in QuiltMaker Magazine, too. Usually patterns there say QM M on them... anyway I've had the pattern for many years. I made hundreds of them for the outer border on my DIL's birthday quilt in the early 2000s.
I tried to answer this by email, but I couldn't find a profile for you.

  3. I really like your butterflies. Unless looking at it close you would never notice there is anything wrong.

  4. It reminds me of my Tinkerbell blocks, I made last January. I 'oops'd', and instead of using flesh color, I gave her white eyeshadow instead. I surely wasn't going to fix that mistake. I have fun with that mistake. I love that shade of blue you are using. Is that some of your new fabric?

    1. Sorry, when I didn't hear anything before the 24th I thought the hop was forgotten. I didn't even get onto the computer until after 9 today. No hop, I'm afraid.

    2. Each butterfly is unique in nature, why not mix it up a bit! So much nicer than trying to unsew when paper piecing.
