Finally a finish

I've been reading the Outlander series (now on book 5) so I haven't been sewing much. It's really hard to put down.

I did finish a quilt for my son-in-law and his new bride marrying very soon. Here are some of the pictures.

Colors were chosen by my Granddaughter....

The backing has birds and bees....

Now some close-ups to show the lovely quilting by Alycia of Alycia Quilts. Each band of navy blue has great feathers and each of the other color bands is a different design quilted in a different color. I'm really pleased with the designs she used.

Hearts on the heart fabric.

This orange is more of a red...
So it is wrapped and sent earlier this week. They should be getting it tomorrow.
I also did a new binding on my grandson's baby quilt. I originally used satin binding, like my Grandma used on all her quilts, but it doesn't last long. This time I used the same navy blue as on his Dad's quilt seen above.
This one was made for my daughter to have for her son born the day after Christmas 2001.

I had my hubby rewrite the label so maybe it'll last. I just love seeing her name here.
Another close-up.

And we had company from the UK this week!

 Allan & Stephan
Bill's brother on the left and his partner in front of the bay in Superior Wisconsin. Thanks for coming to visit, guys. It's always great to see you two.

So I thought I'd sew today, but I got caught up on email and Facebook and wrote this after shopping, and reading a few hours. Now it's time to cook supper. Isn't it always the way? Tomorrow we are going for a few days to the Renaissance Fair in the Twin Cities (St. Paul and Minneapolis Minnesota) and some shopping at the Mall of America and Costco.  Things to do before winter hits. Some locales have had frost already!

So thanks for stopping by to see the old blog. I hope to be more faithful in the future.

Hugs,

  1. I really like that wedding quilt! Nice backing too (birds and bees, lol) and the quilting is very pretty.

Oh, Outlander! I am re-reading Drums of Autumn at the moment. I've made it through all 8 books in the series, but love the writing so much that it's one of those series I'll revisit again and again. If you want to get things done while you "read" check out the audio version narrated by Davina Porter. She is EXCELLENT! She does all the different voices an dialects, male or female, English or Scottish or French. I started by getting the books on CD through the library, but then ended up signing up for Audible so I could buy the audiobooks for the last few, starting with Drums, and have it forever.

Welcome back to Wisconsin! We haven't had frost down here yet, but it's getting close. It's been 40 in the a.m.s this week.

  2. The quilts are beautiful! Congratulations! Birds and bees. Cute idea. Love the quilting.
So happy to see you post again. Sounds like you are having fall. Lots and lots of rain here with more on the way. I think North Carolina might float away.
