Scratched the Itch

Paper piecing calls to me... I just felt compelled to make some more butterflies. Here are the recently made.

See the one in the upper left of the picture?  It should be yellow with lighter yellow dots. Where does the camera get the idea that it's orange with yellow dots?  (The pink didn't show up very well, so I made a close up of it. See below.)

The lilac colored one has white from the backing of my granddaughter, Ashleigh's wedding quilt backing.  I think about her every time I use some of those scraps.

Anyway, I used up all the patterns I printed out, so now I'm making some paper pieced things for my Halloween diorama. I printed out the patterns for  a Mimbulus Mimbletonia, a Mandrake, and a Hogwarts Shield.  We'll see how they work out. I'll frame them.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Here with the Hubby working again a few hours everyday, we will have a regular weekend again.  When you are retired every day runs about the same. (I think we are doing yard work tomorrow... oh yay....
Hugs,
Terri

Rainbow Scrap Challenge Butterfly

Remember these?  Well, I found my pattern and made one in September colors.

The navy blue is my ironing board cover.  Scissors for size comparison.
Check in with the Rainbow Scrap Challenge at soscrappy on Saturday Sept. 24 to see what others have made from these colors.

Have a great weekend.

Terri

First Day of School

You know how you take the first day of school pictures...

Here's my hubby (a great grandpa) on his first day of first grade....(LOL)

as a substitute teacher in Superior, WI.  He did sub in the 80s in CA, so he is experienced.

Just thought you'd all like to see this picture of him on a milestone day in his life.  Love you, Honey,

Hugs,
Terri

Been on a Vacation

We took a little vacation to see the Minnesota State Fair

We walked and walked.... bought shirts and (below) we visited with butterflies!

(Yes, those are small blades of a double wedding ring I attached to this shirt to represent my Grandkids.) The butterflies stayed to rest there because of the warmth and quietness of this old lady, and because my hubby kept catching them and depositing them there.

The next day we went to the Mall of America and walked too much there, too. So we decided to go for a ride to our old haunts in Minnetonka. (We lived there for a couple of years in the 90s)  Here on Minnetonka Lake we enjoyed the lovely 70 degree weather and he fed donut to the edge dwelling fish and ducks.  They put on a great show for us with all the boats going out and coming in. Really was the best part of our trip... and nearly free.

On the way to all that we stopped at a quilt store in Rush City and I bought some fabric....Surprise!
These are the Dolly Quilts I've been making.  Found a bunch of little blocks and sewed them together. I've got a lot of blocks laying around.... you know, UFO, WIP, whatever you want to call them.

So we are back now, he's mowing the lawn and I'm doing the laundry... samo samo.

Have a wonderful long weekend.

Hugs,
Terri
