First a look at the finished five blocks for Alycia Quilts' QOV....Done!
Laid out on the cutting table (above)
The long view...
And a close up.
So I'm off to find a prize to give away... Your only task for a chance to win is to leave a comment. Do you think hearts are okay in a QOV quilt? How about the stars and swirls? (QOV - for those who don't know - are quilts given to soldiers and sailors - made with love by their countrywomen, (and men I guess), to express their gratitude for their service to our country. QOV stands for Quilts of Valor. Alycia collects donated quilts and gives them out to soldiers in her area of Colorado.)
I'll get the Zombie Hubby Hands to pick a winner in a week... November22, Thanksgiving Day! The prize will be announced next week - probably Monday, November 19.
Hugs,
Terri
Those hearts are just fine for a QoV quilt. Our chapter tries to make sure the fabric isn't 'girly'. At the beginning, we were donated tons of 'interesting' fabrics (veggies, Beatles, etc) so it was cut small and mixed with lots of other stuff, and turned out nice. Now we try to get red/white/blues if possible, but don't turn down others. We do limit florals and pinks. When I buy fabric for a quilt for them, I show it to one of my guys to have them ok it first. Congrats on 200 posts. I missed my 100th a few months ago. Oh well.
ReplyDeleteVery NICE blocks, Terri. Congratulations, 200th post! You go girl!
ReplyDeleteOf course the hearts work! Lovelynquilt, congrats on your 200th post!

Of course the hearts and swirls are OK. If the men soldiers don't prefer them, there are women too, aren't there?
ReplyDeleteVery pretty quilt prefect for a QOV.
ReplyDeleteI've used hearts on more then 1 QoV and loved they way they look. And stars and swirls are almost a requirement! Your blocks look great, I can't wait to see what Alycia's group is able to put together from the block drive.
ReplyDeleteThat is so cute love it.

Great progress Terri. I think the hearts and swirls look fine. What person far from home wouldn't want to be reminded that they are loved and valued. Congrats on 200 posts.
