RSC and POD 4

Last of the blue butterflies - at least for this year.

and for Project of Doom the 4th block of 30

I have started the Sweet 16 and have a bunch of cross cuts made. Assembling this evening. (Not much is on TV tonight.)
Another sunny nice day in WA. I was getting pretty sick of the overcast and rain. We've now had 3 nice days in a row!!! I think that is the limit though.
I'll be linking to Fandom In Stitches Flickr group, and to Rainbow Scrap Challenge... see the buttons on the right.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Terri

AAAAAnd the winner is

Pat won the three fat quarters out of these 3... (not the purple, I only bought a regular quarter of that.)

So Pat gets a fat quarter of the red, blue and numbers fabric. I'll send that right out as soon as I hear back from her.
It was another partly sunny day here. Such a relief to see the rays for a few days.

Thanks for stopping by, and thanks for following along with my madness. I appreciate all your time and patience. I'm off to work on week 4 of the POD - it has Harry's glasses on it.

Hugs,
Terri

A Giveaway...

I'll bet you thought this was the post about my giveaway... that'll be next one, but now I'm telling you about the one over at Sarah's blog. She's got three ways to win this book.

It's by Christina Cameli.
So go on over there to Sarah's blog (use the link above), and read her review. You'll be glad you did.

Terri

More Pictures of the Pink baby quilt

Complete with Hubby hands on top, and legs below.... don't notice, in the corner, the shopping bags going back into the car.
I added a white strip to make the backing big enough.

She did okay on her close ups, I'd say.
Hope you are warm and dry where you are. Come back tomorrow for the name drawing.

Hugs,
Terri

A Finish! Finally, and some Flowers

Here it is with the label and binding and all quilted, even.

I sewed the binding on the back first and then onto the front. It worked so slick and is now so much more sturdy than hand stitching. I set it up to catch the bottom of the label, too, so that is secure. The pink butterfly is me, and he's the blue one.

And I discovered something new at my new house today... crocuses coming up in the grassy yard. We had a lovely sunny day today. Not many of those so far, but the next few are supposed to be even nicer. If you are living on the East Coast, I hope you will come back and look at my Spring flowers here.

Hugs to you all... I'm  on the 401 blog today and 101 followers, so on Wednesday I'll draw a name out of the followers and send her a bit of fabric. 3 Fat Quarters from my newly purchased fabric.

I'll join this up to a bunch of linky parties later in the week. See the buttons on the side bar.

Hugs

2 New Blue Butterlies

What's wrong with this picture?

The butterfly on the left is missing 2 #5s and a #4. It happens in paper piecing when you forget how to count. I kind of like the lop sided thing. I might just do without the 4s and 5s altogether. Just for a different look here and there. Individuals may vary.
So tomorrow is Rainbow Scrap Challenge link up day, so I will link these, and maybe the blue bow ties I showed yesterday. These were made from a strip of the new fabric I bought yesterday. It was a scrap - cause I used some for the Sweet Sixteen I'm working on. I've cut a bunch of strips and have some sewed together, but I don't like the look. I think I just need to keep going and they'll look better once I cross cut them. I'm not showing them cause I don't like them.
That is all - for now.
Hugs,
Terri

My Best Day in a Long Time

First and best, we went out to lunch with our married granddaughter! It was so much fun.

Then since it was January 22 - visit your local quilt store day (according to the Susan Branch calendar), my hubby took me to the two he found were nearest our new home.  I bought fabric... he really aught to know better.  (See purchases on the bottom picture.)
When we got home I finished up the week 2 block I missed last week for the POD and linked it up to the Flickr group. They are books without names yet.

Then I made 4 of the 16 bow ties for the Itty Bitty Blocks that will be part of a row quilt from Quilty Pleasures Blog . It went really quickly. Those are 2" squares with 1 1/4" squares to stitch corner to corner and flip on the background pieces. They are 3 1/2" blocks now... hopefully. I didn't measure them, but it's not a swap, so I don't really care if they are perfect. They were lots of fun to make.

So this is the fabric I got. I wanted the number one for a "book" for the POD QAL. It'll be for the Numerology book.

No finish on the baby quilt, yet. I still haven't heard back about the spelling and dates from my DIL. Guess I better call her.

Now we'll wish you a wonderful weekend - still a bit early.
Hugs,
Terri

POD 3

Yesterday I started with this...

and finished up the 3rd piece of the bookcase quilt at Fandom in Stitches Project of Doom QAL. I like the colors for the books this time. I reached into the box of "magic" fabrics I've accumulated to make Harry Potter blocks and pulled out the shiny silver for the Deathly Hallows symbol and the turquoise fabric with the colored bubbles. I so enjoyed the paper piecing, and the results. One block a week, for 30 weeks. I hope I can keep up.
In other news, it's Jan 22 today and on the Susan Branch calendar it says that is the "visit your LQS" day. I guess if I have to I gotta go. Oh the sacrafices!  Right after we have lunch with our grown up married granddaughter!  I'm quite excited about that. Off to the shower...

Have a wonderful weekend. (I guess I'm starting early on that.)
Hugs,
Terri

One More Blue Butterfly

This one will go onto the label for my granddaughter's baby quilt to represent her Grandpa - the financier of the quilt.

Doesn't it look like him?  Mine is pink, but I'm not showing that one until we get to the Pink Month.

Have a wonderful week!

Remember This?

This week I'm working on my newest Grandgirl;s baby quilt. She turns 1 early next month, and this is still a flimsy... for over a year! I started it when I knew she'd be a she.

I'm sandwiching on the dining room table - appropriate? I think so.  I'm using pins. See them at the upper right. Question: Do you put them in a line?  or this way and that? I'm putting them in the little secondary squares of green. I'm thinking I'll wavy line quilt down the legs of the Xs, right through the corners. It'll work great. The trouble  comes when I come upon an O. I'll have to come up with something else for the

Then there were four

My blue butterflies - (We saw two real ones on a hike in Sequoia National Park in CA with my daughter and her family some years ago. It was a wonderful experience and a beautiful memory...)

I'm sharing these over at the Rainbow Scrap Challenge. Come over to see what others are doing in blue. I've also shown these on the linky party at Confessions of a Fabric Addict. You won't believe the wonderful quilt Sarah and quilting group made this time.

Terri

For a friend....

Isn't that a lovely piece? It's a poster to promote a show that is being curated by Monika Kinner-Whalen. (She does the most amazing thread painting. This link goes to her blog.... give yourself a treat and  check it out.) Alas, the show is in Canada. I can't go, but I can remind you to go. Tell her "Hi" from me.

POD #1

Project of Doom block #1 done!

I opted for the crystal ball with the "turtle neck". It was fun and easy.

I better get back to work. I've a gift to finish and send soon.

QALs - the challenge is to keep up

a third blue butterfly

I linked this to Freshly Pieced

I've gone and done it now. I signed on for a number of quilt alongs... (Historically, I haven't been so faithful to the QALs that I've started... something always comes up and I can't see how to stay the course.)  Most of the new ones have a button in the side bar.

The Sweet Sixteen promises to be an easy stitching quilt making preview to the Hands 2 Help Charity Challenge. (A help to getting our charity quilts done.) Sarah will have a weekly linky party, too, I think. The fun starts this coming Sunday. Check it out!

You all know the Rainbow Scrap Challenge, make your own blocks, any size, any method, in a color chosen by Angela of soscrappy for each month. On Saturdays she has a linky party for you to show off your blocks. Make a quilt, or not... no pressure. (And I'm sure that if your color works for the RSC, you could use the same blocks for another QAL. I like a 2 for 1.)

The Project of Doom is a QAL to make a paper pieced Harry Potter themed bookcase quilt. I've wanted to make it since she had the QAL in 2011.  There will be prizes in a Harry Potter theme, but my interest is in making HP blocks again. You know how I love HP, and paper piecing. There's a two for one.

Then there is the Bitty Blocks... oh, I just am so drawn to working tiny. This QAL is talking about sharing the event with a hashtag... Okay. I'm that tech challenged that I really have no idea how to hashtag.  But they are making 3" bow tie blocks... too cute. They will be offering designs for a row along type quilt.  I've gotta figure this one out, too. They don't have a button, but did show a logo that I copied to show you. So you can find out about it from this link. (I do know how to make a link.) This blog is by the staff of QuiltMaker Magazine.

So you can see I'm crazy. I joined Vicky Welch's Drunkard's Path QAL last fall. They all made quilts, I made one block of the Love Ring arrangement before the end. Doing it during our move didn't help either. What will keep me from my dreams this year? I hope I'm not tempting fate by signing on to QALs. Hope I can keep up.

Have a beautiful tomorrow.
Hugs,
Terri

Design Wall Monday

Not really the design wall, that still has the same Drunkard's Path blocks on it as last week.
This is just 2 blocks for RSC - so far...

I'm sharing these at Judy Laquidaria's Design Wall Monday. Stop over and see what the others are showing. You can also see these blocks on Live a Colorful Life.

And just in case you think I am making a quilt in "6 easy steps"....
I like to work tiny.

Have a wonderful week.

Terri

Blue blox

Rainbow Scrap Challenge day, and I have one block, well, maybe 3 quilts started.

I sorted through the blues box...

I found the blocks I made for RSC last year...

Below is the kind of butterfly I wanted to make, but I couldn't find the pattern.

I did find the pattern for the one below. Okay, I wanted to make a butterfly quilt, maybe I'll make 2.
So there it is. I'm thinking a color on white like this one, and a white butterfly on the color - a negative of this way. I'll work on that one next. Keep your fingers crossed for me so I can find my bigger butterfly pattern. (Should be in a heavy book box in Crafts.)

To see what others are making for the RSC check out soscrappy today.

And have a beautiful tomorrow,
Hugs,
Terri
