The Last Dark Green Saturday

I might have to do some 4 patches instead of these butterflies... they take so long, and I'm not getting as much quilting time now (that I'm moving again) as I'd like to have.

Hope you all are having a beautiful Spring or near Summer day where you are. Here it's sunny and breezy and about 65 F. The perfect day... to do yard work.

Fun Fabric Trip to Fabric Depot - Portland OR

We have lived here in Vancouver WA for over 6 months now, and finally we went to my favorite place in the vicinity... Fabric Depot.  You can see how huge the place is... lots of it is quilting fabric.

I got a couple of fat quarters and some Grandma Jewelry.... It's a bright light on a ring of hook & loop.  I'm having trouble hand sewing at night watching TV. This will be just the thing.

These are much more colorful than the photograph.

3 of these are purples and a yellow affecting the color of that one next to it.

So my weekend was wonderful so far, and I hope you have one as great.

Blue Green and light blues for June

Here's the Crayon Reveal
Regular blues on the right were shown for January. Blue greens on the left are shown in the lower picture.

Shown on the left are Periwinkle, Robin's Egg Blue and Cadet Blue (kind of a greyed color).
On the right are Sky Blue, Turquoise Blue and Blue Green. So now that you know, Sew On.
May 30 is the next Saturday and still a green showing.
I'm glad Angela chose blue green and light blues. They remind me of the cloudless sky... a nearly summer thing.

It's So Nice to Have Fronds

It is so nice to have friends... nobody will deny that phrase. I'm so happy to have Blogger Friends, too. Thanks so much for stopping in for a peek.

I didn't make a spelling error in the title.. I'm getting a new frond today... Isn't that cute?

This is a piece off of my Rabbit Foots Fern that broke off the mom plant when we moved.  I couldn't bear to throw it away. I stuck it in some water and waited, and waited..... From November to some time in February, I waited for a root. One day there it was!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was jubilant. Then when the first frond came along - Jubilant again.  This time I'm overjoyed! The little thing is off and running. Now that I know this, I'll be starting more from the feet. It might become a Halloween plant - you never can tell.
So that's what's new today. I'm off to sew now. Working on a Great Granddaughter baby quilt - just in case she is a she. I'll make a blue and green one for a Great Grandson next... if needed. (Did you notice the subtle way I announced that the Grandgirl from the wedding last summer is now about 8 weeks pregnant... (Her Dad asked how that happened.... I love my SIL, he is so fun to tease.)

Sew I should get at it. Hope you are having a sew day, too.

Have a lovely Memorial Day weekend.

Birds and POD 20

Evening Grosbeaks came by one day to visit out patio/bird feeder, and I got some pictures. (They are a mustard yellow, black and white with a gross beak.)

(The other bird at our makeshift watering bowl is a  baby starling.

We used to see them ( the evening grosbeaks) when we lived in Wisconsin and Minnesota, but this is the first time we are seeing them in the West. (We live in Vancouver Washington now.)

Finished my POD 20 block this afternoon, too. I did a lot of remodeling of it.  The pattern was to be Hermione's blue flame in a jam jar, but there was no jar. I used some sparkly white fabric to make the glass part of the jar. I like it.

Sew - that's it for today.  Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

The top book will be 'Hogwarts, A History' and the bottom book is the 'History of Magic'. I've got a lot of embroidery to do.

May - Green Saturday

I've only 2 more to show. Can't quite get into the dark green butterflies. I do like these two tone on tones.

If you'd like to see more dark green blocks, check out the Rainbow Scrap Challenge. You will be glad you did.

Nuther One

I have another to show, and another in the works... (not showing that one)

This is it, I'm afraid.  It is green month, and there aren't green butterflies - maybe that's why I'm not so enthused.
I'm linking up with the Rainbow Scrap Challenge at soscrappy. See you there.

H2H Donation Finished.

Here it is with it's light blue binding...Done!  (Notice the Hubby feet at the side. He likes to model. Oh and I left the picture at this angle because I can keep it bigger and the feet out the side are funnier.  Makes him look magical - doesn't it?)

Showing a bit of the binding and the backing. The butterflies go with this Kaffe Fassett fabric, I think.  Showing the quilting here, too. I made Xs through the 16 patches and wiggly lines through the Xs. I think it turned out pretty good. I'll try the Good Night Irene setting of 16 patches again. I enjoyed making this quilt. (I used as many interesting fabrics as I could. It's going to Em's Happy Chemo, so I wanted lots of fun squares to look at. There are some bright yellow ones with owls that are talking. One says Wow and another says Good Job, there is a Bravo and a Super, too.)
Sorry this is out of focus, but just another close up. Next time the 16s will be more concentrated color so it won't interfere with the Xs. Live and learn, right?

So I'm off to share this on Can I get a Whoop Whoop... and probably over at Crazy Mom Quilts, too.  See you tomorrow with a new butterfly - I still have to make one to share.

POD 18

The potion is Felix Felicis... you can tell by the rest of the book that it's about good luck. I don't know if there is such a book on the list, but I wanted to make it.
Now on to butterflies for a few hours.
Thanks for stopping by.

POD 17 and Spring Flowers

This is my interpretation of POD 17... a bag from the Weasley's store and a few magic books. (Hey, aren't all books magical?)

--------------------------------

And now the flowers around my house in Vancouver, WA
This is a rose I brought from my house in CA.

I love that it's 2 tone. Inside of the petal is red, and the outside of the same petal is white. It has a tendency to long stems, too. Isn't it beautiful?

These are the Azaleas that were growing here when we arrived. I'd have liked the red colored ones... or those red rhododendrons (rhoddies) they have here. OMG I'll try to find a spot where I can take a picture of one. You won't believe the color!

Below is the "wild flower" that grows best in my yard. In CA we call it Loco Weed. It grows like crazy.

And that does it for today. Jennifer has already put out the next POD pattern, and if I have any chance to get it done in time I better get at it.  I want to make some butterflies for Saturday at the Rainbow Scrap Challenge, too.  See you then.

Just the One

Did you know the weather got nice here, and I've been out collecting Vitamin D... so all the sewing I did this week is:

I wanted to be represented on the Rainbow Scrap Challenge today. The color is dark green. I got close.
