A New to Me Butterfly

I started out to make the kind I've seen all over the blogs, like here. I've wanted to try them for ages now.

 

I had trouble getting the background on correctly, so I made a paper piecing pattern.  You may notice I had a problem with that, too. Oh well, these are wonky ones.  I'll fix the pattern for the next ones.  I've been itching to make something paper pieced, you know me.
