Orchid blooming and Piggy Bank Contents

This orchid bloomed last year in WA state.... and now in WI it is blooming again!  Yay.

And here is the "take" from my Piggy Bank Challenge. $166.25 (and a few dollars left in the can again as seed money for next year.)!  There was also 2 hair pins and a fake dollar that only works at the local laundramat.  Thank you Val for the incentive to save the extra loot. I don't know what I'll buy with it, maybe groceries!!!!  No, that wouldn't be fun. Guess I've gotta go to the fabric store...

Hot Pink and Lime Green a Favorite Combo

Even though I'm playing hooky for a while I did make a couple pieces of the right colors...

These below are from last year, before pink and lime were a designated combo.  Guess I'm ahead of the times.

Putting these up on soscrappy for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge.

Happy Summer Everyone.

Terri

Sewers Block

You know about writer's block... well, I've got sewer's block. I have started 2 quilts for 2 granddaughters who will be getting married sometime (soon?), but I just don't feel like working on them. (It's one of many character flaws. I realized what it was while working on my taxes in 1997... When stressed I like to procrastinate and eat. Anybody else relate to that?) Anyway, my horoscope said I should try something new today.... I've been seeing quite a few of the bloggers  I follow, sewing  scraps at random. (Scandalous!)  This afternoon I ran across a grocery sack of snippets and decided to try it. I've never done anything like this before. ( Earlier I had been bragging about painting with my grandgirls when they were little and how they taught me free expression... they were so good at it. Remember that, Ashleigh?)

I just tipped over the sack and started taking interesting pieces out and sewing them together - chain stitching.

Here is the first pile, ironed. I'm going to slice them up and add more colors. Enjoying the process.

Happy Thursday.

Terri

500th Post

Here's a link to the previous fabric baby book I wrote for my eighth grandchild.

http://quiltncards.blogspot.com/2013/02/8s-new-book.html

Couldn't think of any other way to get it on here.

Just realized this is my 500th post. I'm thinking I should have a giveaway... Lets see... I'll give my flower paper pieced square to one of my followers who comments. We'll pull a name off this post's comments. Giveaway is now closed... Winner = Julierose

Just realized I haven't shown the block before. Here's a picture

I'm going to give this until Sunday, then on Sunday we'll pick a name and award the block. Remember you have to be a follower and leave a comment to be considered. Good Luck. (Now closed.)

Hugs,
Terri

Flowers from here

We are still having spring flowers....
First the ones blooming at my house.

My rhubarb blossoming.

And below are wild flowers photographed in our Municipal Forest.

Anybody know what these purple ones are? The leaf is pointed.

The newest plant here. The angel wing begonia we bought yesterday for the back porch. It'll serve to make some new ones for Halloween, too. They are really easy to start.

Hope these remind you of the ones you saw months ago. We are just now having nice weather. 80 degrees today! (Shouldn't have mentioned that. It's expected to rain again tonight.)

So enjoy your weather, and hope your weekend is lovely. Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there.

Hugs,
Terri
