Then there were four

My blue butterflies - (We saw two real ones on a hike in Sequoia National Park in CA with my daughter and her family some years ago. It was a wonderful experience and a beautiful memory...)

I'm sharing these over at the Rainbow Scrap Challenge. Come over to see what others are doing in blue. I've also shown these on the linky party at Confessions of a Fabric Addict. You won't believe the wonderful quilt Sarah and quilting group made this time.

Hugs,
Terri

For a friend....

Isn't that a lovely piece? It's a poster to promote a show that is being curated by Monika Kinner-Whalen. (She does the most amazing thread painting. This link goes to her blog.... give yourself a treat and  check it out.) Alas, the show is in Canada. I can't go, but I can remind you to go. Tell her "Hi" from me.

Terri

POD #1

Project of Doom block #1 done!

I opted for the crystal ball with the "turtle neck". It was fun and easy.

I better get back to work. I've a gift to finish and send soon.

QALs - the challenge is to keep up

a third blue butterfly

I linked this to Freshly Pieced

I've gone and done it now. I signed on for a number of quilt alongs... (Historically, I haven't been so faithful to the QALs that I've started... something always comes up and I can't see how to stay the course.)  Most of the new ones have a button in the side bar.

The Sweet Sixteen promises to be an easy stitching quilt making preview to the Hands 2 Help Charity Challenge. (A help to getting our charity quilts done.) Sarah will have a weekly linky party, too, I think. The fun starts this coming Sunday. Check it out!

You all know the Rainbow Scrap Challenge, make your own blocks, any size, any method, in a color chosen by Angela of soscrappy for each month. On Saturdays she has a linky party for you to show off your blocks. Make a quilt, or not... no pressure. (And I'm sure that if your color works for the RSC, you could use the same blocks for another QAL. I like a 2 for 1.)

The Project of Doom is a QAL to make a paper pieced Harry Potter themed bookcase quilt. I've wanted to make it since she had the QAL in 2011.  There will be prizes in a Harry Potter theme, but my interest is in making HP blocks again. You know how I love HP, and paper piecing. There's a two for one.

Then there is the Bitty Blocks... oh, I just am so drawn to working tiny. This QAL is talking about sharing the event with a hashtag... Okay. I'm that tech challenged that I really have no idea how to hashtag.  But they are making 3" bow tie blocks... too cute. They will be offering designs for a row along type quilt.  I've gotta figure this one out, too. They don't have a button, but did show a logo that I copied to show you. So you can find out about it from this link. (I do know how to make a link.) This blog is by the staff of QuiltMaker Magazine.

So you can see I'm crazy. I joined Vicky Welch's Drunkard's Path QAL last fall. They all made quilts, I made one block of the Love Ring arrangement before the end. Doing it during our move didn't help either. What will keep me from my dreams this year? I hope I'm not tempting fate by signing on to QALs. Hope I can keep up.

Have a beautiful tomorrow.

Terri

Design Wall Monday

Not really the design wall, that still has the same Drunkard's Path blocks on it as last week.
This is just 2 blocks for RSC - so far...

I'm sharing these at Judy Laquidaria's Design Wall Monday. Stop over and see what the others are showing. You can also see these blocks on Live a Colorful Life.

And just in case you think I am making a quilt in "6 easy steps"....
I like to work tiny.

Have a wonderful week.

Terri

Blue blox

Rainbow Scrap Challenge day, and I have one block, well, maybe 3 quilts started.

I sorted through the blues box...

I found the blocks I made for RSC last year...

Below is the kind of butterfly I wanted to make, but I couldn't find the pattern.

I did find the pattern for the one below. Okay, I wanted to make a butterfly quilt, maybe I'll make 2.
So there it is. I'm thinking a color on white like this one, and a white butterfly on the color - a negative of this way. I'll work on that one next. Keep your fingers crossed for me so I can find my bigger butterfly pattern. (Should be in a heavy book box in Crafts.)

To see what others are making for the RSC check out soscrappy today.

And have a beautiful tomorrow,
Hugs,
Terri

Blue is the color, and 2 pillows done

So I thought I'd look at my crayons for guidance on the "real" color of blue.  (I hope this isn't a spoiler for you, but for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge  Angela of soscrappy has announced the color for January and it is blue.) So here are my findings.  It took me three different crayons before I found one that said simply "blue"... (I found Cornflower and Cerulean first.)

and here it is. I thought it a bit greyish blue, in person and for my tastes, so I looked up a few other blues for comparison. See below:

The one in the upper left is Pacific Blue, and lower left is Cerulean. On the right top is Cornflower and on the bottom right is Indigo. (Indigo is more my idea of blue.) We will see what the scrap bag and the stash have to offer. I'll have something as near to blue as I can get it by Saturday.
Good Luck to all the RSC players.

I finished the back on the second pillow cover today. (You know I'm slow.)

Yes, the second one is smaller... I boo booed, but no big. I didn't promise that they would be the same.

So tonight we are going to the movies. We're going to see Unbroken.

We would have had the grands over to play cards or board games and snack, but they are all still out of town. I hope they are having a wonderful time. I hope all my peeps are having a wonderful time tonight.... Be Safe! Drive defensively!

Hugs and Happy New Year!
