First Star

Happy Birthday to my Hubby!  He's 74 today!

Someone asked me what I'd be doing during the Red month of Rainbow Scrap Challenge... well, I don't know when it is, but I'm working on this quilt for the Hands 2 Help Challenge... (If you are unfamiliar with it see the button on the side bar.)

Even though I measured wrong... triangles made with 2 3/4" squares instead of the 2 7/8" squares. It still came together pretty good, and I'm not recutting the 64 squares. The star color is a more mellow orange than it shows here. So happy that the stack of pieces just showed up in my stash. On to star 2...

Terri

The Miracle Pile

I'm so excited!  I just found the Miracle Pile!

I was looking through my boxes of multicolored stash for pieces I can cut into fat quarters to make a prize for the H2H.  I found the five I promised, but I was looking further - for better choices? or more pieces?  You know how it is when you start into the fabric bins... touchy feely... I was enjoying the moment.  Good thing I kept looking.  I found several stacks of 5" squares already cut from those fabrics. Yay!  When I counted the pieces = 192 and I'd already cut other purples toward the project.  I don't have to cut anything else for the Hobe Camp 48X60 quilt I planned to make.  Here's a look at the pile.

From the top - some few won't be used because they were cut to be a snowball quilt many years ago.

From the side...
Now I need a color for the stars. I'm planning on the first star quilt that Sarah from Confessions of a Fabric Addict shared. Mine will feature plain stars in a wild sky.

You all know how slow I am at getting things done... I've got a head start this year!

So if you'd like to know more about the Hands to Help charity (it hasn't started yet) use the above link, or the button on my side bar, and check it out. There are 3 charities (again) this year, or you can give to your local charity and still be included in H2H.  There are guest writers along the way, and prizes!
Last year I won this

Thanks for stopping in, and sharing my joy.

Have a great week.

Terri

Working Ahead

I didn't know what to do with myself... so I'm working ahead of the RSC. I know one of the colors will be red...

I only want 5, and this week I did 4+.  Wonder what the new color will be.  I'll show these again when RSC catches up with me. I also did a red butterfly and leaf.

Not real happy with this one... Is it the brown stem or the same prints on either side? I made this pattern years ago and just found the pattern again.  Loved the older ones that I made into cuff bracelets for my grandgirls. Here are some pictures of the bracelets.

Off to the Rainbow Scrap Challenge to see what the others have made... in teal.

Have a great weekend!

Turquoise Works

I hate to admit it, but this is all I got done this third week of February... no excuses.

Next week I'm going to work on the arch in teal, like I did in purple.  Then I'll have 5 goosey strips per month, any number of butterflies and an arch in each RSC color - I'm thinking table runner for the arches.  We will see.

Now I'm off to the Rainbow Scrap Challenge to see what others accomplished this week.

Have a great weekend.

Happy Valentine's Day - Almost Geese

Hope you are having a delightful day. I looked for Valentine sewing to share at Val's... found several to share. (It's me Terri in WI)
Don't know that this picture of the geese in process is appropriate for Valentine's Day... but here goes.

I figured out this photo page from the 70s is just what I need to keep all the little pieces in order and on the sewing machine until I finish a strip.  (Before I started using it, all the pieces went in different directions. Makes life so much easier with this bit of ancient technology. Another genius idea... LOL)

The first piece (darkest) is already pinned to the paper strip on the right.

So we are going out to Chinese tonight. He's been wanting Chinese for a while now, and I really don't care for it past the egg rolls. It's his Valentine gift. (I got a card saying he thinks I'm amazing. We're married 48+ years - I guess I am amazing, and so is he... just don't tell him I said that.)

Hugs,
Terri

RSC for February 11 -17

Did 2 geese strips the same this week - one starts dark and goes to light, and the other is opposite.... oh and one butterfly. I cut the two goose strips at the same time - saves choosing time.

I have another butterfly in the wings... There is still more than half the month left so I don't feel pressured to finish right away.
Off to share with the others at Rainbow Scrap Challenge.

Have a wonderful Valentine's Day!

2 Butterflies and 3 Lines of Geese

Made in RSC colors - one strip of geese (on the far right) in purple from January,  2 Aqua, Teal, Turquoise, and 2 butterflies in the February color way.

Close ups of the newest colors...

All the geese are different, but they are going the same way so they are getting along nicely.

Now off to So Scrappy to see what others have made. Later we are going to the movies to see A Dogs Purpose. I will report.

Have a great weekend!

I Did....

Here's #62 (finished late last night) in the February Rainbow Scrap Challenge color = Turquoise, Aqua, Sea Green, Teal... any colors in that way - a combo of green and blue, but not green or blue. Got you thoroughly confused? Good... lol.

#62

Hope you have a wonderful day.

Join the Kaleidoscope of Butterflies

I joined the Kaleidoscope of Butterflies. It's a cause I believe in.  Our world is getting ugly enough without losing one of the beautiful elements - butterflies.  (Some people are big into politics, some into human rights, some into animal rights... this is my little cause.) Use the link above and you'll learn some ways you can help the butterflies stay around.

You Followers know I've been making paper pieced butterflies for ages...

These two are simplified from patterns in 365 Paper Pieced Patterns - my bible... a gift from my sister years ago.

 Ditto here.

The above three are some of the patterns I bought from Claudia. They are more difficult, but well worth the work.

The above 3 pictures are some of the little butterflies I have been making for years now during the Rainbow Scrap Challenge. I'm up to 61!  (If I have my way, I'll have 62 by tomorrow.) It's a pattern I bought years ago... It says 2005 MH Designs on it.

Anyway, that's the latest. Check out the link, see if you might like to encourage the little beauties to grace your life.

Hugs,
Terri
