No trip - but a find!

Chrissy decided we should come for New Years instead of Christmas... Now we are just waiting.

So in the mean time we went for a little tour around town, only on the back roads. I hate the crowds and built up areas of cities. So we went out to the fields - saw some nurseries - ponds and little rivers full from the past rains. It was quite rejuvenating. Then we ran across what I thought was ugly fruit. Lots of the fruit having fallen from the trees along the side of the road. We stopped to pick some just to see what it was, and maybe reproduce a few trees to offer for Halloween next.

It's about the size of a grapefruit.  I went to the computer to make sure it was an ugly fruit, but it isn't. This one looks like a green pineapple with seeds inside. So I kept looking and found out that it is an Osage Orange... Not Edible! It has some super traits to the wood, and it's only mildly toxic, but not something you'd want to eat. I do love the quilting pattern on the peeling, don't you?  It is quite random, so unlike nature to be so random. I did cut up the smaller one, and saved some seeds to plant. Something different.

So no quilting done, just relaxed like crazy and read some blogs.  My blood sugar went way down after the tequila. I'm almost normal this morning.

Thank you for all your prayers and words of encouragement. I love you guys!

Hugs,
Terri

MC & HNY to you all

We got a call to come as soon as possible from our son-in-law at 8 this morning....
So we are gone for an undermined amount of time.  (Edit: Sorry to missinform you, but we were called off out travels. Chrissy wants a quiet Christmas with her immediate family, and is quite decided that we should stay home and come after Christmas. So I figured out that it was 5:00 somewhere... )
Thank you for your prayers and your loving comments.
Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Hugs,
Terri

Latest news from my Chrissy....

Just got off the phone with Chrissy.  She is getting worse. She is having another round of chemo in order to stay alive until after Christmas. (She has 4 kids - one is only 11.)  Doctor says without it she would die before Christmas...  Maybe we all will, there is that EOW thing coming.  I'd ask you to pray for her comfort now. If she keeps taking the chemo this time - she may make it to summer.  That's all. Her liver ....

Thanks for your prayers.
Hugs,
Terri

Testing 1, 2, 3....

Here we go...
Okay, so how come I can get pictures to load today?  I haven't paid yet (haven't really tried). Anyway these are from the day before Thanksgiving when our oldest son and newest DIL were here with our newest grandson, Mason Scott. (at about 3 months old)  Here we are holding him so that we can use the MIL tongue plant that is behind us to look like horns or bunny ears. (We are naughty, but don't tell Santa.)

Now the bunny ears are working, but M is not cooperating. Somebody must have yelled "Squirrel!"
Below: Doesn't he look traumatized after seeing granny's quilt?  LOL

Since then I've been making for Christmas. Can't show the scarves I sent off without a photo shoot. Here are the only initials I still have here. I figure they could be tree ornaments in the future, but for now they identify the recipients of the packages.  They are made like a quilt, but I used paper on top of the fabric/batting/fabric sandwich and top stitched once and removed the paper and then stitched around again 2 more times. (The ribbon was caught in with the stitching from the start.) Each is in their favorite color (as I remember them) and they all have the same green on the backs.
Spoiler Alert: Don't look if you are one of my kids or kid in laws or a grandkid... if you want to be surprised.

And a big Thank You, Melanie! Melanie of Houseelf Doings sent me these fun buttons! I love them. Aren't they sweet?!!!!!!!!

So that is all for this time. I have all my Christmas packages sent off and just a little shopping left to do. I'll get back to sewing soon.

Hugs,
Terri

The winner is........

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! We had our company yesterday on Wonderful Wednesday.

I was all excited to show you some pictures of my newest grandson, but Google has decided this is the day to mess me up. Apparently, I've used up the quota of pictures allowed, and will now have to pay. Today, of all days! I'm really bummed.

So on to the winner... see the Christmas fat quarters as the prize in the previous post - I can't show them to you today.  The chosen winner is................

I wish I could have picked you all......

(insert picture of Zombie Hubby Hands here picking a name out of my hat)

Love of Quilts is the winner - Please email me your name and address, LoQ, and I'll send you package out right away!

So enjoy your turkey and the love of family and friends!

I've got homework to do to see how this works, and if I can afford to blog any more.  It has been fun.

Terri

The Prize is...

We went to the River City Quilters' Quilt Show on Saturday - no pictures - I forgot to take the camera...but I did find some pictures for you from the show at Quilt Inspiration

Anywho, it was a very nice show, and I found a nice little prize for our lucky winner...
(We're choosing a winner on Thanksgiving Day.)  Here's the prize ~

Four Fat Quarters of Christmas Fabric.

I would have opened them and shown each larger piece, but they are tucked into a special fold that you might like to analyze.  They are a lot cheerier than shown. So that is the prize.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day.

Hugs,
Terri

200th Post!!!

Nothing special planned, so lets have a GIVEAWAY!  This contest is now over! Thanks for participating.

First a look at the finished five blocks for Alycia Quilts' QOV....Done!

Laid out on the cutting table (above)
 The long view...
And a close up.

So I'm off to find a prize to give away... Your only task for a chance to win is to leave a comment.  Do you think hearts are okay in a QOV quilt?  How about the stars and swirls?  (QOV - for those who don't know - are quilts given to soldiers and sailors - made with love by their countrywomen, (and men I guess), to express their gratitude for their service to our country. QOV stands for Quilts of Valor. Alycia collects donated quilts and gives them out to soldiers in her area of Colorado.)

I'll get the Zombie Hubby Hands to pick a winner in a week... November22, Thanksgiving Day! The prize will be announced next week - probably Monday, November 19.

Hugs,
Terri
