It's July Tomorrow!

and Red is the color of this hot month for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge. Appropriate.
So as usual I went to my authority to see what red might look like... (I didn't get to go to Kindergarten...)

Here are my findings:

I was quite surprised at how purple Magenta was, compared to the color they marked as Red. On my computer printer the only 'Red' is Magenta, so how does it print Red?

I also wonder what the difference could be between Red Violet and Violet Red?  Well, here you go, you can see for yourself. My camera is pretty close on all the colors  except the Brick Red. To my eye, it's a bit browner, but what do I know. I love the Wild Strawberry, but then I love all the reds - that's why the hearts.

I've packed up the butterfly patterns and blocks, so I'll be making red hearts this month... until I move mid month. Any suggestions on how to keep my plants cool in a U-Haul?     (This is the last time I'm moving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

So we will see you on Saturday at soscrappy for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge. (See the button on the side.)

Hugs

Not on the Design Wall Monday

It's not, because it's too big! It's finally a flimsy, and after an ironing - pressing, I should say -  it will be sent to my Quilter - Alycia.  There is no way I could wrestle this big boy in my domestic machine. (It'll be about 90 x 108, I haven't cut off the tails yet either. Or made the backing.... 'There's always something' ~ Roseanne Rosannadanna)

Anyway, here's what would be on the Design Wall.

Side 1: The row between the green and orange is a white with red hearts print, and the bottom is a very light blue with white stars.

This is the other side where the bottom row is a light yellow tone on tone. I used some of my very favoritest fabrics, like that red tone on tone that has butterflies on it, and the blue batik above it.
Do you recognize my Hubby as the Quilt Scare Crow?  Isn't he handsome? LOL  This is the way I love him best... draped in a quilt. (He'll like that.)
I like how it turned out. Let's see if I like it after a trim.

What? I'm working?

I was inspired to make this quilt - my inspiration from Cynthia -  It's been quite easy, but I've been stupid a couple of times. Like today I had to fix a navy piece added to the wrong end... Really? What is wrong with me?

I like how it's turning out. It's for my son in laws wedding. He won't see it here. I'm sure he doesn't read my blog. (AND I'M COUNTING ON HIS PEEPS TO KEEP HIM IN THE DARK!) My married pregnant granddaughter - you know who that is - has been soooooo sick that she isn't helping. I was looking forward to her being here, but we can't always have what we want. I just hope she feels better soon. She helped pick out the fabrics, so I'll put her name on the label as an apprentice.
Otherwise there's lots of papers to sign and fax and things to look for that the banker wants. OMG The packing is in limbo because everything we don't need right now is packed. Just need to pack out the kitchen and bathrooms and the clothes we need to wear on our trip to the new location. Time seems to be standing still. Today we have plumbers fixing a few inconsequential things that the inspector wanted fixed. Couple of other things we need to fix and then we should be done here.

Best news is we will be going to the Sisters Quilt Show in Sisters Oregon on July 11... anybody else going?

That's all the news from here. Keep cool - we have 100s coming up this weekend.

Hugs,

No finishes, but a new start!

We showed our house 20 times this week... got 2 offers and chose the best, a full price with no contingencies (except the inspection). Hurray! So we will be moving before the middle of July.

Here's the new start. I'll keep it a mystery for a while, but want it done before I move. Strips sewn together hanging around waiting their turn.

The lime green got it's turn first. I love this combo of lime and navy.

And under the heading
Hubby Antics

Here's the "Castles in the Sky" of being Diabetic and 72. When you were young did you ever dream of all these pills?  Me neither. Here's your spot in history, Hunny.  LOL

So I'm linking up the Whoop Whoop Friday at Confessions of a Fabric Addict.  See what others have linked up.

So I thought I'd stay away...

but I just couldn't. I took some pictures I want to share with you, and then I'm going to go mess up my sewing room again. LOL

Us in the airport at MSP (Minneapolis-St.Paul, Minnesota). A nice young couple wanted their picture taken here, so we took theirs and they took ours. We had to bend waaaay down to fit our faces. I guess it was only for kids, but we are kids, just antique kids.

This is our new house. 3 bedrooms 3 baths - one on each floor (perfect for an old lady). 1650 square feet of rooms plus a full basement and 2 car garage.

And last week this was the state of my orchids. A whole bunch more bloomed. Whatever I'm doing, they like it. (That's not just a oatmeal box there in the front, that's my granddaughter's invention, a 'Hersey' - her 3 or 4 year old pronunciation of horsey. It's a plastic golf club for the stick. I can still see her galloping through the house using that.... she's 19 next month. Aren't you glad I didn't mention your name, Rachael?  It's one of my bestest memories, and one of my best sentimental possessions. (It'll be there in my house until I'm gone.)

Without the very excellent memories.

Here is what the sewing room looks like now. Still more packing to do. I have a project set out to work on, but I'll have to be careful not to make a big mess. I don't want to clean anymore.
(Ashleigh, you need to come over and help make this quilt quick before I move away.)

This is the prize I made up for the H2H. It was going to be 8 different 1/8th pieces, but I couldn't cut that small... really, can anyone use that little a bit of fabric. So I cut fat quarters (somewhat loosely), and made sure that there was a designer name on it, if I had it.
It was won by Jocelyn Pleus.  Just waiting for her to send me her snail mail address.

 Sew have a wonderful week,

Been Tripping

We were gone to Superior, Wisconsin for the past week, looking for a new house.... Yes, I'm moving again. Ugh!  It's our old stomping grounds and a place where we could get a really nice bigger home for a price we can afford. Here's the showing on realtor.com:

http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/2601-Ogden-Ave_Superior_WI_54880_M77566-01264

We made an offer and they have accepted. Now we have to sell this one. It's  a nicer part of town, close to lots of stuff and lower in crime than the area with lots of homes for sale. Ours is a reasonable price. Our Realtor says it should sell quickly. I'm just glad to have a place on the other end, first.

I didn't do any sewing last week.  I started packing the sewing room.  I'm 2 weeks in arrears on my bookcase quilt, but I can't work on it either because there is so much else to do. I've gotta pack out the sewing room and clean up to show buyers the house... and keep it clean for the wannabee buyers. I probably won't be blogging much either, although that activity is less of a mess than quilting. So know that I'm with you all in spirit, love your latest endeavors, but with nothing to show, I'll probably be incognito for a while.

Hugs,
