Getting Ready for Trick or Treaters

If you follow me you know that I give away plants I've started from my plants for Halloween...(as well as candy - I'm not crazy.)  This year I don't have that many plants... just ran out of space at this house for propagation... no sunshine most of the time.  But I did take pictures of them.

Isn't that a pretty little Hoya plant out front?  I started it from a leaf that fell off of the momma. I was surprised how fast that rooted (in water). Behind is a Spider plant and on the right are Mother-in-law Tongues that took 2 years to get to this point. Also there is an Easter Cactus, and one herb, Rosemary.

This Hoya rooted while attached to Momma... a branch of the vine layed down in a pan of water... the easier way to start a plant.

Most of the above plants are avocado trees started in jars on my window sill in the kitchen... Another Hoya that started as a naughty boy and had to be cut off of Momma. It had grown into the control box of the blinds and could not be removed any other way. It rooted up pretty fast and was potted up last week. Another Mother-in-law Tongue hanging out ready to take to the garage at the last minute tomorrow.

Here is one I'm having trouble giving away...  I can always start another, but will it turn out this pretty?

I have a couple more plants to pot up - Wandering Jews and a couple of the desert plants I'll have to look at the stake to see the name....I'll show them tomorrow.

We are changing from the Hogwarts Greenhouse to an unknown spot in the castle hallway where the pictures move. I'll be in a picture giving out candy through the frame.  In CA the kids really loved the pictures.

Back to work!

Last Pink Saturday

I found some string blocks to work on, and added 4 pink ones this week (amongst other monochromatic themed squares) to the collection. (Go to the Rainbow Scrap Challenge to see what others are doing with pink.)

We had SNOW yesterday and quite a lot of it is sticking... see yesterdays post for pictures.

Have a great weekend.

Mother Nature's Trick or Treat

We are having a blizzard!

And the snow is still falling... sideways. (25 years ago they had 4 ft. of snow over 4 days time over  Halloween. We missed that as we were living in CA at the time.)

Have a Great Weekend.

A Second Pinkie Butterfly

Both for a comparison... (they are lumpy because the paper is still on the backs).

They are both different patterns, both paper pieced.  Now on to something easier.

Pink Butterfly

Not much done... working on a second.

I also made the second (more colorful) leaf.  Our leaves are turning now.  So now I'm inspired.  No new geese. Don't know if I'll make any pink geese. (This was a test... Did you see 5 strips of pink geese on the blog last week?  I've already put them in the box with the other finished colors. LOL)  This butterfly isn't realistic either, but I love the fabric - iridescent... so it reminds me of butterfly wings.

Happy (Pink) Saturday (linking to the Rainbow Scrap Challenge ).

Terri

Brown: Just NOT My Cuppa

I spent 2 days (maybe 8 hours total on this orange butterfly 9.5" square) and it was a much happier experience than the brown leaf.  I spent 1 hour on the leaf. I like the pattern (3" square). I've made it many times.

I'm trying to catch up to 5 strips of geese in the neutral color way.  I guess that's why I'm making (screaming) orange butterflies.

We are having fall here - thus the leaf. I'm going to do some more of those in prettier colors. It got down into the 30s last night, so it might become winter soon.

Orange and Pink Geese

OK last month was the orange month... I finished my 5 strips of geese just now.

And this month is pink... I did these a while ago.

So I'm caught up with those. I have a couple of neutrals made. Guess I should make the other 3 and maybe 5 greys.

Last Sunday we went to a Diners, Drive-ins and Dives destination in Delta Wisconsin... (Not the one in town here in Superior.)  We thought we would see some of the leaf colors changed, and we did, but not much.

Anyway it was a diner... not as homey as the one in Vancouver Washington that we enjoyed so much.

Here's a picture of it being modeled by my hobby, the substitute teacher.

Have a wonderful weekend.
